Construction Site Supervision

An engineer on your site when you need one — on-demand visits to check the quality of the work and get problems put right.

What this actually is

Site Supervision is for homeowners who are building with their own contractor and want an engineer to check the work. You call us when you need us: we visit the site, inspect the construction quality, and show you and your contractor what needs to be corrected. It's narrower than Project Management — we don't track materials, costs or the timeline, and we're not on the project from start to finish.

How a visit works

  1. Book a visit — At least two days ahead, tell us where your site is, what stage the work is at and what you want checked.
  2. Site inspection — Our engineer visits and checks the quality of the work on site.
  3. Problems pointed out — We show you and your contractor what's wrong and explain how each problem should be put right.
  4. Visit report — You get a report of what we found and what needs to be corrected.
  5. Follow-up visit (optional) — Book another visit to confirm the corrections were made properly.

What's included

What's not part of this service

Supervision covers construction quality on site, nothing more. It doesn't include material procurement or tracking, cost and timeline tracking, site assessments, or design. Your contractor is hired by you, carries out the corrections and stays responsible for their own workmanship and warranty, and any cost of fixing the problems is yours as the client.

Timeline

There's no fixed engagement: book a single visit or as many as your project needs. On slab casting days, our engineer stays on site for the full day.

What makes ours different

We aren't your contractor, so we have no reason to overlook a problem. We tell you plainly what's wrong and how to fix it.

Who this is for

Homeowners building with their own contractor who don't need full-time oversight, but want an engineer's eye on the work at the stages that matter, or when something on site doesn't look right.

Frequently asked questions

How much does site supervision cost?

A visit by our site engineer is NPR 1,500 and a visit by a senior engineer is NPR 3,500, each covering up to an hour on site. Supervision on a slab casting day is NPR 5,000 for the day, with meals for our engineer provided by you. These rates are for Kathmandu Valley and can vary with your site's location and distance from our office; emergency and same-day visits carry a 100% surcharge.

How is this different from Project Management?

Supervision is on-demand and covers construction quality only: we visit when you call us and check the work. Project Management is a continuous engagement from start to handover that also covers materials, progress, timeline and cost, and mediating with your contractor.

When should I book a visit?

Whenever you want the work checked: before an important stage such as casting a slab, when you notice a problem, or before the contractor moves on to the next stage of work.

How quickly can you visit after I request one?

Our engineers' schedules are full, so visits are by appointment only: please book at least two days ahead. Emergency and same-day visits carry a 100% surcharge on the visit rate.

Do you fix the problems yourselves?

No. We identify what's wrong and explain how to correct it; your contractor carries out the corrections, and any cost of fixing the problems is yours as the client. You can book a follow-up visit to have the corrections checked.

Do I get a report after each visit?

Yes. After every visit you get a report of what we found and what needs to be corrected.

Do I need to hire my contractor through you?

No. You hire your contractor directly, and we check the work on your behalf.

Will you check the work against NBC 105:2020?

Yes. We check the work against the approved drawings and NBC 105:2020, Nepal's national code for seismic design.

Which areas do you cover?

Our supervision rates are for sites in Kathmandu Valley. The cost can vary with your site's location and its distance from our office, so tell us where your site is when you book.

Who covers the warranty on the construction work?

Your contractor does. Supervision doesn't take on the contractor's liabilities or workmanship warranty.
